Displacement of the Burner 
The ability to move the burner in a controlled manner allows it to be positioned exactly under the specimen and to follow its movement during the flame exposure time.
The instrument is equipped with a pneumatically operated slide that is activated by means of a lever located in the front the instrument.
The device allows the operator to perfectly control the position of the flame under the specimen through the inspection window and to obtain highly repeatable test results.


Vertical Displacement of the sample 
UL 94 requires that the distance between the flame and the specimen be kept constant during exposure of the specimen to the flame.
The distance between the flame and the specimen changes during exposure to the flame due to combustion and the tendency of the specimen to bend.
To enable the operator to correct the distance between the flame and the sample, the instrument has been equipped with a pneumatic slide that allows the sample to be moved vertically. The pneumatic slide is operated by a lever located in the front of the instrument.
This unique feature ensures an important improvement in the repeatability of results and compliance with regulatory requirements.




Control Panel 
The control panel includes:
• Digital reading of the temperature of the flame
• Timer for the measure of test time
• Button for Start / Stop button for the Timer
• Button for Reset of the Timer
• Button for activation of internal light
• Button for activation of fume aspiration


Gas Flow Adjustment 
The instrument must be connected to a Methan source.

The instrument is equipped with:
• Manometer between between 0 and 25 mBar
• Fluxometer between 0,04-0,36 NL\min with flow regulation knob
• Fluxometer between 0,2-1,3 NL\min with flow regulation knob


Bunsen Burner  
Bunsen burner compliant with ASTM D5025 and CEI IEC 60695-11-4 standards equipped with:
• Safety sensor for interruption of gas flow with flame absent
• Ring for the adjustment of the air / gas mix
• Tiltable support for testing with inclined flame (0 °, 20 °, 45 °)




Temperature Calibration  
The instrument is supplied with:
• Internal Thermometer with thermocouple for 20 mm Test Flame according to ASTM D 5207 standard.
• Ruler for the check of the height of the flame.

The Thermocuple and the ruler are installed inside the chamber.
To test the temperature of the flame, you only need to move the burner under the Thermocouple using the movement knob.


Air Flow and Fume Extraction  
The instrument is equipped with a manual valve for interrupting the air flow during the test and an aspirator for removing the fumes at the end of the test.

Positioning and Inspection of the Specimen 
The instrument is equipped with sliding guides in the front and side positions that allow the specimen holders to be placed in the optimum position and their behavior during the test to be inspected through the front window.
The mirror, equipped with a telescopic arm, allows inspection of the specimen behavior at the rear as well.
The interior lighting, via LED lights, is activated by a button on the control panel.

Instrument Structure  
The instrument, completeley made of Stainless Steel, is optimized for being placed on the table of your lab and for the connection to fume evacuation systems.

Development and production 
The instrument is totally developed and produced in the plant of Gibitre Instruments in Italy.
All the mechanical parts are produced in the company workshop using modern CNC machines.
Components and sensors from well-known brands are selected in order to ensure the maximum reliability in the measures
Internal trained personnel takes care of all the production stages: assembly, start-up, calibration, packing, shipment and installation.

FAQ
What kind of methane cylinders should be used for the instrument? The UL 94 standard requires the use of methane with 98% purity. Gas cylinders on the market (not supplied by Gibitre) have a pressure of 200 bar and require a pressure reducer (not supplied by Gibitre) to reduce the outlet pressure to 1 bar. The instrument includes the pressure regulator to reduce the pressure from 1 bar to 25 mbar as required by the standard.
Is it possible to fuel the instrument with propane ? The instrument can be fed with propane gas, but the results obtained in the tests performed can be very different from those obtained with methane. Calibration of the instrument is carried out using methane gas. The use of gas with different calorific value may give nonconforming results.
