Volumetric die cutters for preparation of Constant Volume Specimens for MD or OD Rheometer
Standards the instrument complies with: ASTM D2084; ASTM D5289; ISO 6502-1; ISO 6502-2; ISO 6502-3;
Overview Preparation of specimens with constant volume for Rheology tests ensures high repeatability of results and eliminates the manual preparation operation.
The machine produced by Gibitre Instruments allows for rapid preparation of specimens with consistent volume.
The new construction of the machines, with an open structure in the front side, allows even large pieces or strips of raw compound to be placed and cut.
The front protective screen of the pneumatically activated machine automatically descends before the start of the cutting operation to ensure the safe operation of the machine in accordance with CE safety requirements.
The cutting mechanism adopts a double-action piston to press the compound to the required thickness and subsequently activate the cutting die to obtain specimens with the required volume even with compounds of high hardness.
The construction methods of the machine do not require the use of cutting planes and ensure easy extraction of the specimen.
Key Features • Preparation of specimens in accordance with ISO 6502-2 and ASTM D2084
• Ease of use
• Pneumatic action safety door to ensure total operator safety
• Solid steel and aluminum mechanical structure and 1200 kg pneumatic piston to ensure perfect specimens even with hard compounds
- C-frame construction to allow cutting of even large rubber pieces without prior preparation
- Micrometric adjustment of piston displacement for adjusting specimen volume
Sample Volume for MD Rheometer According to ASTM D 5289: "The test specimen is considered to be of proper size when a small bead of rubber compound is extruded uniformly around the periphery of the dies as they are closed(116 to 160% of the test cavity volume).
For an instrument with a test cavity volume of 3.44 cm3, this is achieved when the test specimen volume is between 4.0 and 5.5 cm3.
Undersized test specimens can cause low cavity pressure and low torque readings. Oversized test specimens cool the dies excessively during the early part of the test period, affecting the vulcanization characteristics."
The standard setup of Gibitre Volumetric cutter produces each sample for MD Rheometer test with 4.8 cm3 volume.
At order time you can request a custom setup to produce samples with a volume between 4 and 5.5 cm3.
Safety devices The instrument is equipped with:
• Pneumatic activation of the safety protection screen
• Safety switch, which prevents the activation of the piston if the Safety Protection Screen is not closed.
• CE Labelling
Development and production The instrument is totally developed and produced in the plant of Gibitre Instruments in Italy.
All the mechanical parts are produced in the company workshop using modern CNC machines.
Components and sensors from well-known brands are selected in order to ensure the maximum reliability in the measures
Internal trained personnel takes care of all the production stages: assembly, start-up, calibration, packing, shipment and installation.
