Maintenance and Calibration Service
Gibitre Instruments provides maintenance and calibration service for all instruments installed. Calibration is carried out by Gibitre using reference instruments with traceability to primary standards
Characteristics of the Service
• Gibitre Instruments provides maintenance and calibration services for all the instruments produced.
• The services offered have been studied and are continuously improved to meet the highest requirements of the customers regarding the reliability of the measures and the certificate formats.
• The service is coordinated directly from the Gibitre office for most European countries or is provided by a Gibitre agency through technicians directly trained and qualified by Gibitre.
Programmed Maintenance and Calibration Service
The service is offered in the form of an annual Maintenance Contract and includes:
• the cost for the maintenance and calibration of each Gibitre instrument owned by the customer
• the cost for the transfer of the technician that is evaluated based on the distance, the number of operations scheduled in the year and the estimated work time for the provision of the service
• activation of the Remote Assistance service for the duration of the maintenance contract (for instruments controlled via PC)
• optional software update services
The number of annual maintenance / calibration for each instrument and the timing of execution of the activities are defined according to customer needs.
The underwriters of a Maintenance Contract are entitled to discounted rates for any extra-contract repair activities and for the purchase of spare parts
Repair service
The repair service has been optimized in order to minimize the time to resolve malfunctions, to minimize repair costs and to provide the customer with complete and transparent information regarding timing and costs.
Repair interventions are carried out according to the following methods:
- A diagnosis of the problem is performed using the Remote Assistance Service
- An offer is formulated in which the estimated costs for the spare parts and the hourly cost for the intervention of the technician are quantified
- Upon receipt of the order, the activity of a technician is immediately scheduled
- The final cost for the activity is calculated after intervention according to the real time needed for the activity and the spare parts actually replaced.
Calibration of the instruments
The calibration of the instruments is carried out according to the requirements of the international reference standards.
The list of calibration operations that are performed for each type of instrument are specified in the offer of the Calibration Contract and are described in detail below.
The procedure for the performance and the reference instruments for the execution of each specific calibration phase are described in the Calibration Report.
The standard calibration procedure can be modified to meet specific customer requirements. Specific needs must be agreed when issuing the Calibration Contract.
Reference instruments used for the calibrations
• Gibitre Instruments owns a complete set of Reference Instruments for each type of instrument for which it provides calibration services.
• Reference Instrumsnts are directly calibrated by accredited laboratories and are stored in Gibitre Metrological room with controlled temperature and humidity conditions.
• Every technician authorized by Gibitre to perform the calibration has at his disposal a complete set of Reference Instruments and templates that allows to perform all the calibration operations required by the Gibitre procedures.
• Each instrument used by the technicians is subjected to periodic calibration. The identification label of the instrument identifies it unambiguously and returns the calibration date.
Traceability of the Calibration Instruments
• The Calibration Reports show the complete list of primary and secondary instruments used for the calibration and include the Hyperlink for downloading the relative Calibration Certificate from Gibitre website.
• The measurement uncertainty related to each calibration made is calculated considering the uncertanty of the instrument/s used, the dispersion of the results, the resolution of the instrument under calibration.
Habilitation of Gibitre technicians
Gibitre Instruments scrupulously follows the training of the technicians who carry out the calibrations through training and coaching activities with expert technicians.
The method used for the assignment of the calibration to the technicians includes the automatic verification of the technician's qualification for the execution of a specific activity.
The link in the Calibration Report permits to download from Gibitre web site the Report with the habilitattion of the technician who performed the calibration.
Standard Calibration service for Moving Die Rheometer.
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 6502-3 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument.
• Regulation of the gap between the dies.
• Calibration of the temperature of the Upper Die at 3 temperatures (177°C, 200°C).
• Calibration of the temperature of the Lower Die at 3 temperatures (177°C, 200°C).
• Calibration of the time for temperature recovery at test start at 180°C (NEW)
• Calibration of the Torque (at 13 dN*m)
• Calibration of the torque standard supplied with the instrument.
• Final check with Standard Gibitre Compound (NEW)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for Oscillating Disk Rheometer.
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 6502-2 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the temperature of the dies at 3 temperatures (177°C, 190°C).
• Calibration of the time for temperature recovery at test start at 180°C (NEW)
• Calibration of the Torque (at 50 dN*m)
• Calibration of the torque standard supplied with the instrument.
• Final check with Standard Gibitre Compound (NEW)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for Mooney Viscometer
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 289-1 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Replacement of the sealing of the lower die.
• Calibration of the temperature of upper and lower dies of instrument (at 100°C and 125°C).
• Calibration of the time for temperature recovery at test start (NEW)
• Calibration of the torque reading (at 100 Mooney points)
• Calibration of the rotation speed of the rotor (NEW)
• Final check with Standard Gibitre Compound (NEW)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for Tensile Tester
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 5893 standard (see detail below)
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the differential Extensometer (25mm and 100 mm) according to ISO 5893
• Calibration of the Reference Length (L0) according to ISO 5893 (NEW)
• Calibration of N° 1 Load Cell (10 points testing) according to ISO 7500-1
• Calibration of Crosshead Displacement according to ISO 5893
• Calibration of Crosshead Speed according to ISO 5893 (NEW)
• Calibration of the thickness meter according to ISO 23529
• Calibration of the temperature inside the Environmental chamber
• Verification of the extensometer inside the Environmental chamber
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for IRHD Hardness Tester
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 48-2 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Visual inspection of the Indentor.
• Calibration of the Pre-Load, of the Main Load and of the weight of the Anular foot.
• Calibration of the force application time for Pre-Load and Main-Load (NEW)
• Calibration of the displacement of the indentor in correspondence with several IRHD Hardness readings
• Pre-calibration and Post-Calibration test of the instrument with reference test samples (NEW)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for a SHORE Hardness Tester
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 48-4 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Visual inspection of the Indentor.
• Calibration of the total run of the indentor (readings at 0 and 100 Shore points).
• Calibration of the displacement of the indentor and of the force applied by the indentor in correspondence with several Shore readings (20, 40, 50, 60, 80, 90 Shore).
• Calibration of the force application time (NEW)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for Ozone Cabinet
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 1431 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Complete cleaning of the Ozone Detector with replacement of the internal filters.
• Calibration of the temperature inside the test chamber (40°C).
• Calibration of the Ozone Concentration inside the test chamber (at 50 pphm, 100 pphm, 150 pphm, 200 pphm).
• Calibration of the time for reaching ozone concentration set (NEW)
• Calibration of the relative Humidity inside the chamber at 50% and 75% (Only for instruments with humidity control)
• Final check of the correct working of the instrument.
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for Low Temperature Check
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 2921 and ISO 812 standards.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the temperature of the cooling bath at 3 temperatures (0, -5, -35, -70°C).
• Calibration of the heating speed (gradient) of the cooling bath (NEW)
• Calibration of the time reading device (NEW)
• Calibration of the displacement of the 6 extensometers for TR Test (at 50, 70, 100 mm run).
• Verification of the pre-load force on the extensometers (NEW)
• Calibration of the distance between the nose of the striker for Brittleness point test and the sample holder.
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for an Abrasion Tester
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 4649 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the number of revolutions of the drum during the test
• Calibration of the lateral displacement of the sample
• Calibration of the test time
• Calibration of the vertical force on the sample holder (5N and 10 N)
• Calibration of the abrasiveness of the emery paper with Certified rubber samples (3 tests)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for an Abrasion Tester for Hoses
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO/CD 20444 Standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of Test speed (Hz)
• Calibration of the run of the abrading tool
• Calibration of vertical force applied to the sample holder
• Calibration of the radius of the abrading tool for ISO 6945:1999
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for a Block Oven
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 1817 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the temperature inside the testing tubes (at 70°C, 150°C, 200°C, 250°C).
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.
Standard Calibration service for De Mattia Fatigue Check
The calibration is performed with reference to the requirements of ISO 132 standard.
The service includes:
• Ordinary maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the oscillation speed.
• Calibration of the dimension of the templates.
• Calibration of the temperature inside the environmental chamber at 4 temperatures (for flexometers with environmental Chamber)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.

The service includes:
• Ordinaly maintenance of the instrument
• Calibration of the temperature of the platens. The temperature is measured, with the plates closed, in 9 different points of the platens and at 3 different temperatures (140°C, 170°C, 200°C).
• Calibration of the closure Force (50, 100, 150, 250 kN)
• Issue and e-mail shipment of the Calibration Certificate with traceability to primary standards.

The service includes:
- Ordinaly maintenance of the instrument
- Testing of the friction: measure of the number of free oscillation of the striker before the stop.
- Calibration of the diameter of the striker.
- Calibration of the weight of the striker.
- Calibration of the length of the striker.
